Now that Christmas has come and gone are you faced with the need to make a return but don’t feel comfortable leaving your home to go to crowded stores? You may be in luck. Walmart is streamlining its return process and has tapped FedEx to help. Walmart is helping consumers make their returns without ever leaving their homes to ensure the process is “safe and headache-free” according to Linne Fulcher, the company’s vice president of customer strategy, science and journeys.
Walmart has partnered with Carrier Pickup by FedEx to handle returns. To begin, customers will need to schedule a pickup date and print a return label through the Walmart website or app. Then the package will be picked up by a FedEx employee and returned to Walmart.
No printer? No problem! Customers without printers may select the option to “Drop of at Fedex” as the return method to get a QR code. Then the customer can bring their package to a nearby FedEx location where an associate will scan the QR code and print a free shipping return label.
Customers who wish to return any item they bought in-store, online or from a third-party vendor in person can also start their return process online through the Walmart app or website.
Certain stores will also dedicate specific locations where customers can make returns while maintaining social distancing guidelines, Fulcher said.
“Combined with a year unlike any other, we knew it was time to look at our return policies and processes to ensure they were safe and headache-free,” she said.
