There is currently a shortage of primary care physicians, which means nurse practitioners are filling the void. With an increasing pool of patients, many nurse practitioners are becoming adept at diagnosing illnesses, prescribing medicine, and performing duties that are normally handled by physicians and their assistants.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the demand for nurse practitioners is expected to grow nearly 20 percent by 2026.
